Bat Mitzvah Club

We are so happy you are considering Chabad of Pittsford for your child’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We hope to be able to make this event meaningful, with inspiration that will last for years to come!

We are proud to offer training for the special day for both students of our Hebrew School as well as anyone from the Jewish community that would like to celebrate their Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We believe that all Jewish children should be given the oppurtunity to celebrate this special milestone in an uplifting and joyous manner..

Rather than focus on just the special day, our training uses a curriculum that will emphasize the ‘process’ of maturation, responsibility, and Jewish identity. The Bar/Bat Mitzvah readings and Mitzvah projects are direct expressions of this process.

Twelve Passages of Scriptures, Talmud, and Jewish Spirituality form the core of the Bar/Mitzvah Readings. We have selected these passages because they each articulate a developmentally appropriate message for your child. These are not just religious texts for a Bar/Bat Mitzvah event; they are ‘tools for meaningful living,’ as your child matures into adult life.

Alongside our study of these 12 texts will be our Bar/Bat Mitzvah Discovery Course which will serve as a forum for discussion and discovery that will delve into specific Jewish topics relating to Jewish Faith, the Synagague, Land of Israel, and the role of a Jewish Person.
